'Resurrection Morning’
-I was inspired by the idea of having Christ emerging from the tomb with an early morning light hitting, just as the last shadows of dawn are dropping and giving way to full light.
-I’ve spent several trips to the garden tomb in Jerusalem while studying there, and I always noticed the door to the garden tomb is very short. I liked the idea of him having to stoop down in order to exit the tomb (echoing that He descended below all things in His suffering), but looking heavenward where he will soon ascend to His Father.
-His gaze is fixed upwards.
-Clothed in holy vestments, they practically glow with light emanating from them
-His pierced hands and feet are visible, reminding us of the sacrifice he made for each of us.
-The shadow of an olive tree is visible on the wall nearby, reminding of both of His suffering in Gethsemane and of his being nailed to the tree (Acts 5:30)
-Easter Lillies bloom near his feet, symbolizing the renewal of resurrection
